The air I breath is thick with sand,
the weather is hot, almost too hot to stand.
But I press through it all to see the end of the day,
To see my baby girls, to hear them say my name.
I am their father, I am also a soldier.
The weapon I wield is American made,
And with its help many lives have been saved.
But this great tool does not come without regret,
many lives have been taken,
Too many lives to forget.
I hear the word "peace", how I long for that day.
But the jobs not done yet,
No sir!!
I have to stay.
"Lord please, please give me strength"
These are the words that I pray.
My prayers were answered when I heard Him say
"Press on my soldier, and give me your all,
For you are fulfilling a higher call."
"For on this earth you have honored my name,
you have given your life, just as I did the same."
"Welcome to heaven, a place is prepared
where you can live in peace, and never be scared"
"I love you my dear soldier, you have worn my name well,
Enter now my kingdom, where forever you will dwell."

Many thanks to all the men and women, who have given their lives on the battlefield.
